The Guisane is the most easily accessible river when heading out from road. It follows its path between south-facing mountain shaded north slopes of the valley. No austere gorges or feisty torrents here, just a charming small Alpine river which is a delight to explore and perfect for a refreshing dip in its mountain waters. It should not be forgotten, however, that despite this calm and sober appearance, the Guisane is still an Alpine river, and that its gradient and speed on the last section as you approach Briançon can still spring a surprise or two.
